Multi-Timeframe Analysis
A 1-minute lesson from the MarketPro academy, one of 24 in trading strategies.
Multi-timeframe analysis involves examining the same instrument across more than one chart timeframe before making a trading decision, typically using a higher timeframe for overall context and a lower timeframe for precise entry timing. A setup that looks attractive on a short timeframe can look very different in the context of the broader trend — for example, a bullish signal on a 5-minute chart occurring directly beneath major resistance on the daily chart carries different risk than the same signal in open space.

A Typical Structure
- A higher timeframe (such as daily or 4-hour) to establish the dominant trend or broader structure
- A middle timeframe to identify a more specific zone of interest, such as a support/resistance area
- A lower timeframe (such as 15-minute or 5-minute) to fine-tune entry and stop-loss placement within that zone
