Smart money concepts are drawn on a chart, but a chart is only ever one timeframe's worth of information — multi-timeframe alignment is how traders avoid mistaking a small, local pattern for the whole picture. Many traders start on a higher timeframe (such as a daily or 4-hour chart) to establish overall bias: is structure bullish, bearish, or ranging, and where are the significant liquidity pools and points of interest?

A Common Top-Down Approach
Many traders start on a higher timeframe (such as a daily or 4-hour chart) to establish overall bias: is structure bullish, bearish, or ranging, and where are the significant liquidity pools and points of interest? They then move to a lower timeframe (such as 15-minute or 5-minute) to look for a more precise entry that aligns with that higher timeframe bias, rather than trading the lower timeframe in isolation.
