Tokenomics: Supply And Inflation Schedules
A 1-minute lesson from the MarketPro academy, one of 20 in crypto trading.
Tokenomics refers to the economic design of a cryptocurrency — how many units exist, how new units are created, and how that supply changes over time. These mechanics can meaningfully affect long-term price dynamics independent of trading activity.

Supply Concepts To Know
- Circulating supply — coins currently available and tradable in the market.
- Total supply — all coins created so far, including any that are locked or not yet in circulation.
- Maximum supply — a hard cap some projects enforce, beyond which no new coins can ever be created.
- Inflationary versus deflationary design — some projects continually issue new coins, while others burn or remove coins from circulation over time.
