How This Attachment Forms

A win can feel like personal validation, and a loss can feel like personal failure, especially when trading is done alone without external feedback to put results in context. Over time, this can create pressure to "prove something" with the next trade, which pushes decisions away from a calm process and toward emotional reaction.

  • Feeling the need to immediately win back money after a loss to restore self-image
  • Avoiding a valid setup out of fear that another loss would be personally embarrassing
  • Measuring self-worth by account balance on a day-to-day basis
