Volume Profile Basics
A 1-minute lesson from the MarketPro academy, one of 22 in trading indicators.
Volume profile displays trading volume horizontally against price rather than against time, showing which specific price levels attracted the most trading activity over a chosen period rather than when that activity happened. The price level with the highest traded volume is often called the point of control, and is watched as a significant level where a large amount of trading agreement occurred.

Key Volume Profile Concepts
The price level with the highest traded volume is often called the point of control, and is watched as a significant level where a large amount of trading agreement occurred. A "value area," typically covering the majority of total volume around the point of control, marks the broader zone where most trading activity took place. Areas with very little volume, sometimes called low-volume nodes, mark price levels that were passed through quickly rather than traded around extensively.
