A measured move, sometimes called an AB=CD pattern, describes a price structure made up of two similarly sized directional legs separated by a corrective pause, where the second leg tends to travel a distance comparable to the first. The pattern typically unfolds in three parts: an initial move (leg one), a partial retracement, and a second move (leg two) that often approximates the length of the first, giving traders a simple way to project a rough continuation target once the pattern is underway.
